Cementing Plug

Cementing plugs are key tools installed inside the cement head for oil and gas well cementing operations. Their main function is to separate cement slurry and mud during cement injection, preventing mud contamination of cement slurry which would compromise cementing quality.

Cementing plugs are normally used as a set, consisting of a top plug and a bottom plug. The bottom plug is placed before cement injection to separate the lower‑section cement slurry from mud. The top plug is placed after cement injection to separate the upper‑section cement slurry from mud and displace cement slurry into the annulus.
