Inflatable Column Thread Protector is a special thread protection and sealing accessory for drill string columns in oil drilling & production equipment. Designed for high‑end pipes such as drill pipe columns and drill collars, it prevents thread damage, dust ingress and water intrusion during transportation, storage and tripping operations. Constructed with high‑strength synthetic fiber cord fabric and high‑quality wear‑resistant rubber inflatable structure, it can be precisely inflated and shaped according to column specifications to achieve seamless fitting and sealing.
Its core advantage lies in full‑seal protection: when inflated, it tightly wraps the threads to block sediment, moisture and corrosive media, delivering 3‑times better protection compared with conventional plastic thread protectors. When deflated, it shrinks in size for quick and easy installation and removal, suitable for high‑frequency operations. The material is oil‑resistant, acid‑alkali‑resistant and anti‑aging, working under extreme conditions from -30℃ to 120℃. It resists damage from repeated inflation and deflation, greatly reducing the repair rate of column threads.
Available in full sizes ranging from 2⅜" to 13⅝", it is compatible with various drill pipe thread types including REG, IF and NC, and supports non‑standard customization. As a key protective component for oil drilling platforms, drill pipe processing plants and pipe storage yards, it effectively improves pipe turnover efficiency and reduces operation & maintenance costs.
